- May be used in children and adults over 12 years of age
- Hands should be washed prior to application of cream, and again following application (unless affected area is located on the hands)
- A thin layer of cream should be applied sparingly twice daily as needed, for no more than 7 days of continuous therapy
- Amount of cream applied to the area should be based on ‘fingertip units’. A single streak of cream from the top crease in the finger to the fingertip is one fingertip unit. One fingertip unit is enough to treat an area equal to the front and back of one hand
- Amount applied should not exceed 15g/week (ie. half a tube)
- Cream should not be applied to the groin, genitals, between the toes or on the face or the scalp
- Onset of action to reduce swelling, itching and redness is under 1 hour after application
- Clobetasone should not be used extensively in pregnant patients or for a prolonged period of time due to potential risk of fetal malformation
- If condition does not resolve within 7 days of treatment, patient should be referred to a physician for further assessment
