Patient
should be advised to finish the recommended course of treatment to prevent recurrence, even through symptoms may improve before the treatment course is complete.
· Patient should be instructed to dry the feet last after showering or bathing and use a clean towel every day, to prevent autoinoculation
· Prevent transmission to others by not going bare-foot around the home or in public areas until the infection is cured.
· Patient should be advised to clean the affected area and dry thoroughly before applying the medication. Patient is to apply 1-3 drops of solution or a small amount of cream, or powder and rub into the affected areas 2 times/day for 4 weeks. Patient should pay special attention to the spaces between the toes; wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes, and change shoes and socks at least once daily.
· Patient should discontinue the medication if they develop a rash after starting the medication and consult the physician as they may be allergic to the medication.
· Some improvement will be noted within the first 2 weeks. If the symptoms do not improve within 2 weeks of continuous therapy, the patient should be advised to see the physician
