A thin layer of cream/ointment dosage forms should be applied
twice daily (morning and evening) to a clean, dry foot for 4 weeks, including
one week after the infection has disappeared. Sprays (miconazole), solutions or foams should be applied directly
to the skin and should be allowed to air dry.
Typical side effects of topical azole
anti-fungals include minor local symptoms like burning
or itching. If an allergic reaction should occur to the agent (increased
redness, intense itching), discontinue immediately.
If there is no improvement in your symptoms in two weeks, or if your symptoms are not completely resolved in six weeks, it is important that the patient should speak to their doctor or chiropodist.
