Currently, there are studies indicating that vitamin D may help with the severity of PMS symptoms. However, there needs to be more evidence to recommend Vitamin D as a treatment option for PMS symptoms. Since Vitamin D is relatively safe within its recommended limits and supplementation is generally required in North America, women should intake the recommended daily amount from either diet or supplementation. This will improve bone function and other cellular functions. Nonetheless, vitamin D is not a first line agent. Preliminary research has shown that it may be efficacies in PMS symptoms however the degree of efficaciousness, recommended dose and dosage form is still unclear.
