About the product
Resultz is a non-pediculicide product that contains isopropyl myristate 50%. This medication will dissolve a component of the lice that leads to dehydration and subsequent death.
Administration/Dosage of Resultz topical product:
On Day 1, apply product to dry hair and massage into the hair until the entire scalp is thoroughly wet with product. It is important to apply treatment from the roots to the ends of the hair.
Approximate dosage for 1 patient 2 years of age and older
Hair Length Per Application Total Per Treatment (2 Applications)
Short 30-60 mL 60-120 mL
Shoulder Length 60-90 mL 120-180 mL
Long 90-120 mL 180-240 mL
- Use towels to protect child/adult’s eyes from treatment and to prevent clothes from getting wet
- After completing application, allow product to remain on hair for 10 minutes
- After 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and wash hair if desired. The feel of the product may remain on hair following rinsing, this can assist with combing.
- If desired, nits and dead lice can be removed following treatment by combing with a fine tooth comb provided with product:
o Separate a section of hair not wider than the lice removal comb
o Using this combo tilted toward the scalp, comb section from scalp to end of hair
o Wipe comb with tissue and place tissue in sealable plastic bag
o Repeat until all hair hair has been combed to remove eggs, wiping with a tissue after each combing
o Dispose of all tissues in a sealed plastic bag; wash comb
- Sometime between day 7 & 10 following initial treatment, repeat Resultz application to kill any lice newly hatched from egg
Safety Information
- This medication is for use on the skin only. Rinse immediately if this product gets into the eyes, nose, mouth, mucous membranes, or open wounds. If pain persists, seek medical attention.
- Generally well-tolerated
- You may experience local burning, mild erythema, scalp pruritis, dry skin & dandruff. Contact a doctor if any of these are severe in nature or do not subside.
- Contact a doctor if you experience a rash or difficultly breathing following administration of this product
Monitoring and Follow up
- You should be contacted by a pharmacist 24 hours after first treatment to confirm no issues with the application process and to assess severity of adverse effects. If severe itching or other side effects persist please contact your doctor
- You should then be contacted after 2nd application to confirm resolution of signs and symptoms of lice infestation. If 2 treatments do not get rid of the lice, please see a doctor.
Storage
- Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. This product can be stored at room temperature away from excess heat and moisture. Speak with a pharmacist
