- Non-pharmacological options should never be used alone in cases where the child is actively experiencing signs and symptoms of diaper dermatitis
- Frequently change diapers: at least every 2 hours and immediately after every bowel movement
- Superabsorbent diapers are preferred to decrease humidity and risk of future diaper dermatitis episodes
- After cleansing diaper area consider “air-drying” and having “diaper-free” periods. It is recommended that a water-proof barrier be placed underneath the child to avoid large messes.
