Aspirin is a
drug that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and is used for wide array of
indications. It reduces pain, inflammation and platelet aggregation.
It should be avoided in individuals that are: hypersensitive to salicylates, in children under the age of 16, asthma, and in patients with inherited or acquired bleeding disorders.
For the management of pain, do not exceed adult dose of 3.9g in 24 hours. It can be taken with or without food. If you experience severe rash, angioedema, and bronchospasm, discontinue the medication.
