For
treatment atopic dermatitis, there is no consensus on what dose to use for
Lactobacillus GG,
· For prevention of atopic
allergies in infants with family history of atopy
· 20 billion Lactobacillus GG given to pregnant women for 2 – 4 weeks prior to delivery
· Then first 3 – 6 months to breast feeding women or bottle feeding infants
· Be cautious if also using immune-suppressants. Theoretically Lactobacillus can increase the chance of infection in those who have a compromised immune system
· Antibiotics may decrease the efficacy of lactobacillus – separate administration of antibiotics and Lactobacillus by 2 hours
