Patient Counseling
- Loratadine will relieve the itching and inflammation caused by urticaria or other minor insect stings and bites.
-Loratadine may be taken with or without food.
- Patients should start to experience relief in 60 minutes.
- Recommended Dosing:
CrCl 10-50 mL/min: Recommended dose every 24-48 hours
CrCl <10 mL/min or Dialysis: Recommended dose every 48 hours
- Adverse reactions are mild and may include: headache, sedation, fatigue, and dry mouth.
- If using oral disintegrating tablets, medication must be taken immediately after removal from blister packaging.
- See a physician if symptoms are not resolved in 7 days.

- Adults and children ≥10 years (over 30kg): 10mg once daily
- Children 2-9 years (up to 30kg): 5mg once daily
- Renal Impairment: No dose adjustment provided in manufacturer’s labeling, consider:
CrCl 10-50 mL/min: Recommended dose every 24-48 hours
CrCl <10 mL/min or Dialysis: Recommended dose every 48 hours
- Hepatic Impairment: No dose adjustment provided in manufacturer’s labeling, however systemic exposure may be increased and thus it is recommended to dose every 48 hours.
