VITAMIN B6
Patient Counselling
· There is inconclusive evidence for the use of vitamin B6 in the reduction of PMS symptoms.
· Doses should not exceed 100 mg/day due to the risk of experiencing serious side effects.
· Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes stomach upset.
· Store at room temperature.
· Protect from light.
· Store in a dry place.
· Keep out of reach of children.
· Common side effects: headache, upset stomach, nausea.
· Contact doctor immediately if you experience signs or symptoms of:
o An allergic reaction: rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
o Neuropathy: numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.
· Do not take this medication if:
o You are allergic or sensitive to vitamin B6 or any component of a vitamin B6-containing preparation.
o You are taking phenytoin, phenobarbitol, or levodopa (monotherapy).
