Indication
- Peppermint Oil in ethanol is a traditional herbal
remedy that can be used to treat the pain associated with tension type
headaches - Peppermint contains menthol, a chemical that is
thought to reduce the amount of pain that you feel and as a result treats
the pain associated with a tension type headache
Administration
- Apply a small amount of oil to a sponge and apply it to your forehead and temples
when you have a headache - It will take 15 minutes before the medication takes effect and usually lasts 45
minutes, you can repeat administration after 45 minutes
- There is no data on the safety of peppermint in pregnancy
- Most people experience no side effects when Peppermint is applied
topically - If you
experience any irritation or redness discontinue the product immediately
and rinse area with cool water, contact your doctor or pharmacist
- Be sure to wash your hands after application to avoid ingesting
- Little of the drug is absorbed into the body when applied topically, and peppermint
tea is often consumed traditionally during pregnancy for stomach
upset - It is likely safe to use in pregnancy but use with caution

traditionally used in pregnancy and should be avoided
